Privacy Policy

The short version

Your conversation is private between you and the Guru. The Guru reads everything you send, because that's the service. You can delete your chat at any time.

What we collect

Sign-in details: your Google account email, or your phone number.
Your display name: the name you choose for the Guru to call you.
Your sign-up profile: your age range, gender, country, and, if you choose to answer, what brings you here. We also note your device's time zone, so the Guru can see your local time. Only the Guru sees your profile.
Your messages: texts, photos and voice notes you send, and the Guru's replies. Photos are compressed, and camera details such as location are removed, before they're stored.
Sign-up confirmations: that you confirmed you're 18 or older, and when you agreed to these terms.
Membership status: whether you're a member and until when. PayPal handles your payment details. We don't see or store your card.
Notifications: if you allow them, a device token so we can tell you when the Guru replies.

Sensitive information

What you talk about may reveal your religious or philosophical beliefs. We only process this with your explicit consent, which you give when you sign up. You can withdraw it at any time by deleting your account.

Who can see it

The Guru reads your messages and replies to them. The Guru can also keep private notes about your conversation.
Service providers that run the service for us: Google Cloud and Firebase (sign-in, storage, hosting and notifications) and PayPal (payments).
Authorities, only where the law requires it, for example to report illegal content.

How long we keep it

While you use the service, we keep your chat so you can see your history.
When you delete your chat, it disappears from your side right away. Your words matter, and so does your safety. After you delete a chat, a protected copy stays on our server for 90 days to help keep this a safe space for everyone. After that, it's gone for good.
When you delete your account, your chat and profile follow the same 90-day timeline.
The only exception is content reported for legal reasons. It's kept as the law requires and isn't part of the 90-day erasure.

Where it's stored

Your data is stored in the United States.

Your choices and rights

Delete your chat or your account at any time from the app.
Ask for a copy of your data, or ask us to correct it.
Withdraw your consent by deleting your account.
If you're in the EU, you also have rights under the GDPR, including the right to complain to your data protection authority.

Age

The service is for people 18 and older. We don't knowingly collect data from anyone younger.
